About Rohtak District
It is believed that Rohtak got its name from its headquarters town Rohtak which was founded by 'Raja Rohtas'. He named it as `Rohtasgarh' and which later became Rohtak'. It was formed as a district in 1824 by the British. Earlier, Jhajjar and Sonipat districts were a part of Rohtak district. Rohtak became a district of Haryana state on 1st November, 1966. 

Location Territories
It is a part of Rohtak division. It is surrourded by Jind district in the North, Sonipat district in the North, Jhajjar district in the South and South-East, Charkhi-Dadri district in the South-West, Bhiwani district in the West and Hisar in the North-West. 

Rohtak is Famous For
This district is famous for the timber and agricultural production since ancient times. It is also known as 'Educational City' and 'Political Capital' of Haryana. It is also famous for hosiery cloth market and dairies Important tourists attractions are ancient site of Farmana and Khokhrakot, Asthal Bohar, Tilyar Convention Centre, Shahjahan Ki Baoli, Tilyar Lake, Sai Temple (Kharawar) and so
