About Hisar District 
The Jain literature Uttaradhayana Sutras', mentions a town `Isukara' in the Kuru country, which is believed to be the earlier name of Hisar. Hisar city was founded by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 AD who named it as 'Hisar-e-Firoza'. He also built a walled fort which had four gates, namely, the Delhi Gate, the Mon Gate, the Nagori Gate and the Talaqi Gate. He also built tujri Mahal' near his fort for his wife Gujri. After Independence, the city became a part of Punjab and on 1st November, 1966, it became a district of Haryana state. 

Location and Territories 
It is a part of Hisar division. The district is surrounded by Fatehabad district in the North, Jind district in the East, Rohtak and Bhiwani districts in the South and Rajasthan state in the West. Famous For Hisar is also known as the 'Steel City' and 'Magnet City'. It is the largest producer of galvanised iron in India. It is the largest producer of iron pipes in Haryana. Hisar has the largest auto market and largest steel industry of Haryana. The district has National Research Centre on equines and Central Institute for Research on buffaloes. Important tourist locations of the district are Gujari Mahal, Blue Bird Lake, Rakhigarhi (Archaeological Mound), Jahaj Kothi Museum, St. Thomas Church, Ancient Mound Agroha, Dargah Char Qutab, Fort of Prithvi Raj, Barsi Gate and so on.
